The Bible contains an extensive list of the names of other gods, goddesses, and hybrid creatures that were worshiped by mankind. The fame of some of these beings has continued on into modern times, while others have been forgotten. While many Christians still believe that most of these gods were simply idols, Paul refers to them as "devils".

"But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils." – 1 Corinthians 10:20

While idolatry was a major issue in the past, we must remember that the idols were created to represent supernatural beings ancient cultures claim to have encountered. If Paul's words are true, then there is a very real and malevolent source behind the worship of various gods and goddess throughout history.
