Minister – Welcome

"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." - Galatians 1:10

People say that politics and religion are two of the most controversial subjects on the planet. Some people even believe that ministers, pastors, etc. shouldn’t express their political views, especially if it goes against the cookie cutter idea that Republican = Christian. Some of my beliefs and opinions may not be popular, but they are just opinions, so don’t stress it. The following list represents my OFFICIAL position on political issues, not to be confused with Biblical positions:

Political Party – Non-Partisan. But I prefer Democrats much more than Republicans because I don’t have to constantly hear ridiculous phrases such as “liberals (fill in the blank)”. For some reason, they have no idea how absurd they sound. Both parties are exactly the same. I’m a huge Ron Paul supporter and I believe he was the only Republican in the history of the party that was worth voting for.

Abortion – I’m anti abortion. However, I don’t believe in forcing people into doing the right thing. That’s how we end up with a police state.

Electoral College – Get rid of it and let the election be decided by who gets the most votes from the people.

Homosexual Marriage – I’m undecided. I think its a bit hypocritical to say that gay people are going to make a mockery of marriage, but Kim Kardashian can get married for $18 million, then get pregnant by Kanye West while still married to Chris Humphries. Then there’s Brittney Spears and most couples vacationing here in Vegas that get married and divorced in less than a year. Until heterosexual couples stop making a mockery of marriage, I’ll remain up in the air on this one.

Disclaimer: This is strictly my political position, not my scriptural position.

Marijuana – I’m pro legalization. The war on drugs has become the same as prohibition and is doing more to fund organized crime than to prevent it. God said everything He made is good and we know for a fact that marijuana does have medical benefits, which is why drug companies have been trying to patent THC for decades now.

I also don’t believe that the destruction of lives is worth the cost. The penalties for using the plant are more harmful than actually using the plant.

Gun Control – I believe everyone should own a gun and learn how to use it. Laws only punish those that follow the law. Criminals don’t care about the law in the first place. The laws should be less strict when it comes to owning guns.

War – I’m very much anti pre-emptive strike (we attack first), but I’m pro defense. As the old saying goes, “don’t start nothin won’t be nothin”, and that goes for all sides. War based on lies and deceit is just murder wrapped in a nicely presented package. This is one reason why Republicans that are anti-abortion, but pro war make no sense to people with sense.

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell – Not asking and not telling doesn’t make anyone any less gay or any less in the military. If gay people in the military make you nervous, don’t join the military, but be warned, they are still at grocery stores, gas stations, and probably in some churches. If you don’t believe me ask the Catholic priests or Eddie Long (yeah, I know. I shouldn’t say things like that).

This is not an endorsement of homosexuality. I just don’t believe it matters one way or the other if people know or not.

Got Salvation?: Ask for forgiveness of your past sins, believe that Jesus is the son of God, believe that He died and resurrected to save you from your sins, and invite Him into your heart to be your Lord and Savior. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13

I tend to agree with you.

All weddings should be a religious issue and have nothing to do with the state. The gov’t. is way to involved in peoples personal lives and it’s wrong.

Thanks for writing. I will clarify what I mean. I believe homosexuality is a sin just like any other sin. If you notice, I place this in the “political” section, because my position on whether or not it should be legal is undecided. Homosexual marriage has no affect on me one way or the other politically. The fact is, not being able to get married doesn’t make them any less homosexual.

Furthermore, what constitutes marriage isn’t even universal within the church, nor is it a strictly Biblical practice. The problem here is twofold: if I’m not getting upset and taking a hardline position against divorce only being an option after fornication, why bother getting politically involved with any of the rest? Christians seems to forget about the divorce rules in the Bible, and have nothing to say about those laws.

Biblically, its a sin, but politically, I don’t really care one way or the other. Ultimately both are between them and God.

Encouragingly, I hear you say, loud and clear that you will adjust your position on things to what the Scriptures teach. However, i am both surprised and saddened, that you are “undecided” over homosexual marriage. Comparing it with worldly marriages, or even Christian marriages these days isn’t much of a standard. All the sins mentioned in the Bible including beastiallity, are equally damning. ALL sinful lifestyles lead us in the wrong direction, away from God. We need the Truth in every arena of life.
I do not condemn homosexuals over anyone else who needs God. As far as I am concerned, ALL of us need Him. I just wish since you are in a position of authority, teaching, that you would defer to the Word of God. In many things you use the Bible to support your views. I agree and admire that. We all need to do that. Yet, God is not for homosexual marriage, and we should not be either. It is not a gray area, like your input suggests.
Please use the Scripture to substantiate your position on the issue itself. There IS NO doubt, that
we all need Mercy… that we all need a Savior. That was not the point. The Brother above, simply challenged YOUR position of “undecided” … as I am.

Do you ever sin? If you say no, you are a liar. If you say yes, then why don’t you agree with God and not sin? Its easy to point fingers, but Jesus pointed out “let he that is without sin cast the first stone.” The reason nobody threw one is because “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” The Bible does not call us to harp on one single sin. You are right, the Bible does talk about homosexuality as a sin, but it also teaches GRACE, MERCY, and FORGIVENESS. As a Christian its a shame that you don’t know that and aren’t willing to exercise it with certain sins. Furthermore, homosexual marriage has nothing to do with me.

I’m also going to point out the hypocrisy in those against homosexual marriage. Not once have I ever heard them campaign against adultery, beastiality, or being a child molester. All of those are covered in the Bible as well. Also, I never said I don’t agree with God, which makes you a liar in your assumption, which means you are sinning and that you don’t agree with God by choosing to lie.

  • What a shame, it would have been fine being your opinion but the bible is very child like clear on this subject, Homosexual Marriage – I’m undecided ( how come), Kim, Kenya, Britney what do they have to do with it, one sin does not make the other sin right, can adultery (sin) make homosexuality right. amazing for a minister (brother).

you know brother, what you said of “Homosexual Marriage – I’m undecided”, that is exactly what Obama said earlier before he moved to the other side.

As for me, I have decided what the bible says about this unbelievable sin, even the unbelieving people in Africa (I am African believer) who never heard of the bible do not do or think of this act, as they are seen as backward or uncivilized, but unknowingly they are doing what their conscience is telling them what God commanded in the bible.

You are a minister, I am also a servant of God in some where in the Arab world serving him.

God has already decided, why dont you agree with him?

    Brother in Christ
