Breaking In The Bible: Genesis – Results and Answers (5/10)

I have to say, that as a whole, we did absolutely terrible. LOL. Some of the questions were intentionally hard, while others were easier. Overall, we got 5 out of 10 (5/10) correct. Let’s take a look at each question and see which ones we got right and which ones we got wrong.

How many sons did Abraham have?

Result: WRONG

Answer: 8

Here is one where we failed miserably, and there’s a good reason for that. We mostly hear about Isaac and Ishmael. People simply don’t talk about Abraham’s other six sons that he had with his third wife Keturah.

“Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.” – Genesis 25:1-2

Answer: 3

When the story of Abraham is told, it is usually Sarah that gets the spotlight, but he had two other wives.

Sarai/Sarah

“And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.” – Genesis 11:29

Hagar

“And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.” – Genesis 16:3

Keturah

“Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.” – Genesis 25:1-2

How many children did Jacob have?

Answer: 13

This was one of the harder questions because we associate Jacobs children with the 12 tribes. Subconsciously, the number 12 is associated with Israel (Jacob), and we often forget about his daughter Dinah.

“And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.” – Genesis 34:1

Who did Noah curse?

Result: WRONG

Answer: Canaan

This is one of those questions that people get wrong more often than not. The fact is, Ham was not cursed. It was Canaan and only Canaan.

“And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.” – Genesis 9:25

How many children did Lot have?

Result: WRONG

Answer: 4

This was probably the toughest question of them all because people don’t necessarily like to think about the circumstances. Lot had two daughters, and both of them got pregnant by Lot. Therefore, Lot had four kids and two grandchildren.

“Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.” – Genesis 19:36
