Evolutionary Theory is nothing more than a modern religion hidden under the label of “science”, and I can prove it. In order to fully understand how we got to that point, we need to start at the beginning, at the point prior to The Big Bang. Step by step, I’ll point out which areas are hard science based in fact, and which are nothing more than faith based beliefs with no scientific backing at all. One more thing before we get started. Its inevitable that some college student will read this, and begin to think they are clever for saying, “if you don’t believe in science then don’t use lights, refrigerators, etc.” Its not clever and the creation of useable technology has nothing to do with anything discussed in this series. We are discussing theories, not tangible science based in fact.
The Singularity and Science
“According to the Big Bang model, the Universe expanded from an extremely dense and hot state and continues to expand today. A common analogy explains that space itself is expanding, carrying galaxies with it, like spots on an inflating balloon. The graphic scheme above is an artist’s concept illustrating the expansion of a portion of a flat universe… There is little evidence regarding the absolute earliest instant of the expansion. Thus, the Big Bang theory cannot and does not provide any explanation for such an initial condition; rather, it describes and explains the general evolution of the universe going forward from that point on.” – Wikipedia
In short, the existence of the Singularity does not support the belief that God doesn’t exist. However, many that misunderstand the concept, hold the belief that it proves the absence of God. On the other side of that belief, are Christians that do not believe in the Singularity because they believe you can’t believe in God and the Singularity at the same time. This is simply not true.
The very existence of the Singularity raises one very big question that needs to be answered before we continue:
- Where did the contents of the singularity come from?
“Energy can be neither created nor destroyed. However, energy can change forms, and energy can flow from one place to another. The total energy of an isolated system remains the same.” – The Law of The Conservation of Energy
According to The Law of The Conservation of Energy, The contents of The Singularity were not created, nor can they be destroyed. The Big Bang Theory is an explanation of how that energy has expanded, and changed, but still exists. In other words, The Singularity is eternal, it had no beginning, will have no end, it always was, and always will be.
- This claim is no different than the Christian belief that God is eternal, had no beginning, will have no end, always was, and always will be. Christian theology places God as the singularity that set everything in motion.
Both the belief in an eternal Singularity and an eternal Creator require an unwavering amount of faith to hold onto. Why does this particular area of science require faith? Because there is no evidence that all matter pre-existed in an infinitely dense form. Its a guess, a hypothesis at best. That’s a fact. It has yet to be confirmed if this belief is true, and there is absolutely no way to test it. That moves it into the realm of faith.
Observation: Notice that The Law of The Conservation of Energy is written in such a way that possibility of a Creator is automatically excluded, even before any evidence is ever examined. If energy cannot be created, then there can be no Creator. True science does not eliminate any possibilities until the hypothesis has been tested and proven. This is no different than the Christian belief that God is the only God, or the Islamic mantra: “no god but Allah.” In a nutshell, the science mantra is: “there is no Creator except creation itself.”
Can Energy Be Created?
We know for a fact that it cannot be destroyed, but what evidence is there for the belief that it cannot be created? There is none. Again, this must be taken on faith, based on our current level of understanding. I invite you, as the reader, to reply with SOLID evidence that energy cannot be created by any means at all ever. It is something that is often said and often believed, but not actually provable. If it is provable, provide the proof, and prove me wrong. If you cannot provide absolute proof that energy cannot be created, it then falls into the realm of faith because you must believe without the evidence that science requires in order for it to be true science.
Is There Evidence For A Creator?
All matter is a form of energy. Matter can be converted into energy, for example, burning wood to generate heat. If we were to break down everything that life is made of, we’d eventually arrive at an area of science known as String Theory.
“In addition to the types of particles postulated by the standard model of particle physics, string theory naturally incorporates gravity, and is therefore a candidate for a theory of everything, a self-contained mathematical model that describes all fundamental forces and forms of matter.” – Wikipedia
Let’s take a moment to address The Theory of Everything. If you read the links above, you’ll be able to follow along much easier. If everything is made up of “strings”, then everything has a common link. How exactly do strings work?
“On distance scales larger than the string radius, each oscillation mode gives rise to a different species of particle, with its mass, charge, and other properties determined by the string’s dynamics.” – Wikipedia
Basically, strings create particles, and everything else is made up of those particles. This brings us to several very interesting questions:
- Did strings exist within the singularity?
- Do strings contain the necessary information to create particles?
- Are particles just an accidental by product of string oscillation?
- Are strings the DNA of the universe?
The Existence of Strings
If strings existed within the singularity, then the process of creating all of the necessary particles to build the universe started before The Big Bang. If they didn’t exist, then something else led to the creation of strings. Either way, those that don’t believe in a Creator run into a huge problem.
Strings create particles, which means they either contain information that allows them to produce a desired result, or we must take it on faith that the creation of particles is an accidental by product. Information does not create itself, it has to be input, which indicates a Creator. On the other hand, belief that particles are an accidental by product requires faith because there is no evidence to date that supports this as being a complete accident. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Where did the strings come from in the first place?
- If strings contain information, how did the information get there?
If you choose to believe that this was all one big accident, what are the chances that the byproduct of strings simply existing, through a series of extremely unorganized events, would eventually lead to self aware, living, beings capable of creative thought? I don’t know the exact chance of that happening, expressed as a number, but I’m sure it goes beyond what is considered a statistical impossibility.
We do not have an infinite number of singularities, just one. That means one chance to have a series of very unlikely events, that defy all odds, lead us to this moment in time right now. At this point you have to take one of two positions:
- You have to have FAITH in a Creator with a grand design in mind.
- You have to have FAITH that we are the result of a long series of accidental and coincidental events.
Our current level of knowledge and science cannot prove or disprove either of these positions. Before we move on to the Big Bang, lets define what faith is:
- “Firm belief in something for which there is no proof: complete trust.” – Merriam-Webster
You must either have faith that the singularity always existed and was never created or you must have faith that it was created. Either way, this area of science requires faith because it offers no proof either way.
The Singularity and The Bible
The Bible starts out with its focus on The Singularity, but it portrays that singularity as God. Whether we are talking about science or the Bible, the sudden creation of the universe marks the beginning of measurable time.
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1
Both science and the Bible agree that the universe started at some finite point in the past. Was God the singularity? Was the singularity created by God? The official scientific position is that The Singularity was not created and had no beginning. It existed before time was time, or in other words, from everlasting. Interestingly enough, that is the same description we find in the Bible in reference to God. The Hebrews definitely understood that universe did not always exist and came from a pre-existing source. I’ll close with this:
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” – Psalms 90:2
