In 2009, my little brother told me about a series of books called, The Mortal Instruments. Book one is titled: City of Bones. The series revolves around a group of people that hunt supernatural entities such as vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. As the book progresses, you learn that the “heroes” are half angel and half human, and are referred to as Nephilim. Again, they make no attempt to sugar coat any of this, the heroes are called Nephilim in the book and they are depicted as heroes. Well, some of them are, but not all.
I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of the series and never thought they’d turn this into a movie. The series features fallen angels and demons as well, and is very well written. It seems as though a lot of research went into the books, but that doesn’t always translate into the film version. If you want to check out the series for yourself before the movie is released in August.
- Book One: City of Bones
- Book Two: City of Ashes
- Book Three: City of Glass
- Book Four: City of Fallen Angels
- Book Five: City of Lost Souls
This series is definitely not written from a Christian perspective, but if you know the truth about the Nephilim, their parentage, and their purpose, then you shouldn’t have a problem enjoying this series.
The Upside
Even though this book presents the Nephilim as “heroes”, they do have a dark side, which is also shown. The good thing about this series is that it will get people interested in the Nephilim, and prayerfully lead them to Christian websites so that they can find the truth about what the Nephilim were really all about. Let’s pray that they are led to Christian sites like mine and others, and that they are led to Christ if they are not Christians already. This movie will be a guaranteed blockbuster hit, and this is the perfect opportunity for people to take a renewed interest in the Bible.

Unfortunately, you failed to state what your point was. You mentioned the card game and the movie, then said what you believe. Why mention either at all if they don’t have anything to do with why you believe what you believe?
Minister Fortson says:
You may want to look at the work as a WHOLE. Only a foolish person thinks he knows what the content is based on one element of the story. Keep in mind that this is a FANTASY story. Who cares if you’re impressed? They aren’t trying to impress you.
David Lowe says:
He’s been “hunting demons”? You can’t hunt a demon…they are invisible. They are the disembodied spirits of the nephilim. You can’t kill a demon. A demon can only possess the body of a human being, and killing the human being does nothing to the demon inside.
They did a lot of research, but can’t even get a fundamental fact like this right? I’m not impressed.

I know the book has nothing to do with the Illuminati and the Illuminati card game is a game, you misunderstand the point I was trying to make.
Minister Fortson says:
Check the definition of “mundane”. Keep in mind that the card game is just a game and this is just a book. Has nothing to do with the Illuminati. It took this series quite a while to gain popularity.

Hey Minister Fortson! Thanks for the link, I just saw it. There’s a scene in the movie trailer where the girl asks the guy “Why can I see you and no one else can?” and he answers “You’re not a mundane”, i.e. she’s not a human being.
I’m sure you’re aware of the Illuminati card games. There’s one card on there with a guy who’s has tattoos on him, piercings and unnatural hair color, just as you see a lot of people look nowadays. The name of that card is called “Freaking the Mundanes.”
Interesting, I think. This tells me those in the elite and hybrids see us humans as “mundane.”
